As per a report posted by the social media analytics company, Parse.ly, Twitter is not doing much to bring the news organizations much of internet traffic.

    The analysis

Parse.ly checked the data of 200 of its own clients throughout a period of 2 weeks during the month of January. The company found out a median of 0.7 re-tweets related to each tweet, 3 clicks each tweet and 8 tweets for every post. This might seem to be a decent number but is a pretty small amount for a news organization. It roughly translates to only 1.5 % of all the traffic which is simply not enough!

Moreover, Parse.ly, who represents companies like Business Insider, Up worthy State, and The Daily Beast, found out that only the top 5 % of all the publishers were getting a lift of up to 11 % of the total traffic that was coming from the social media giant, twitter, that also with a very less median of 18 clicks for each tweet, only 4 re-tweets and 180 tweets every post.

    The most probable solution

There is no direct solution to this, however, the best way to get people’s attention on Twitter is to post content which is mostly interesting and relevant to a vast number of followers such that it relevant to their lifestyle.

Parse.ly has observed that the breaking news and conventional content are getting most of the heat in the twitter space.

Even after taking all possible measures, it is undeniable that Google and Facebook have the reputation of being the best in terms of traffic referrers in terms of news websites, with Yahoo lagging behind acquiring a respectable third position while Twitter gets the forth.

On the flip side, Parse.ly however, concludes that in spite of capturing most traffic by Google and Facebook, Twitter still dominates as the “Breaking News” publishing platform.
