Usually, it is the Chinese companies which faced patent infringement charges from the bigger ones like Samsung, Apple etc. Chinese companies faced patent issues when it came to expansion and therefore their growth was hindered. A recent issue was when Xiaomi faced patent charges from Ericsson following which it had to pull out its handsets from the Indian market.
A few years back, Samsung had led the smartphone market in China but later it was ousted by others like Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, Apple and Xiaomi and now stands in the sixth position. After the lawsuit was filed and it became the talk of the town, the company had stated that they had invested about 15 percent of their profits into developing new technology and the 50,377 patents that the company owns is an outcome of this investment and dedication. These patents have been attained in almost all faces of mobile communication like new products, technology, and improved wireless communication. The invested amount has been revealed to be about 59 billion yuan.
The patent lawsuit has been filed by Huawei in both China and United States over the use of a certain fourth generation mobile technology which has been used in Samsung phones. The president of Huawei, Mr Ding Jianxing has stated to media that the company expected Samsung to realize the patent laws and work alongside Huawei to use the technology after receiving patent rights from the company.
Patent Issues Between Apple and Samsung
With the newer advanced technologies, there have been frequent lawsuits filed over patent laws and the most talked about was those between Apple and Samsung. It all began with a lawsuit filed by Apple in 2011 over the use of a certain technology and even for stealing the product design. Since then these were an array of lawsuits filed to and fro between the two biggest mobile manufacturers.
