How to Convert JPEG to Word to Avoid Retyping

My boss recently sent me an image file in my email over the weekend. He said that he was sorry to have bothered me, but he needed the work typed and sent over to a client early on Monday morning. The JPEG file size was about 50MB and I needed time to have it completed. Just by luck, I decided to do a Google search to see how others were coping with this much work. I came across this software and I can’t stop thanking its developers and thought of sharing with you all as well:

    How are the Files Converted?

A deeper research into this technique had me discover that the technology used to make this possible is called OCR (Optical Character Recognition). This technology works by scanning the characters individually and comparing them to the stored characters. Once it scans one character, it moves on to the next.

An alternative method that is used by this OCR is the use of feature recognition. This is possible because each letter of the alphabet has a unique stroke that makes up that letter. The OCR, therefore, compares the features of the image to the stored features and thus comes out with the character that has got the same feature.

In comparison, of the two methods, the letter is more accurate and produces fewer errors.

    How is it Done?

I had to download an OCR program to convert the image; however, this is not the only way. You can use an online converter for the same results. The online program could be free or paid and you can download and install these programs if you constantly have images to convert.

One such software is a JPEG to Word Converter available at http://products.softsolutionslimited.com/jpg-to-word/ and from the company’s website at http://products.softsolutionslimited.com/

After you have downloaded or chosen your desired program you will be required to load the image you intend to scan. If you are on an online program you will upload the image to the website. If on a downloaded program, you will have to open the image in the program.

You will then have to wait for a few minutes while the image file is scanned and converted. After completion, you will be required to copy the converted text into my word document.

Lastly, check and auto-correct all errors that might have been made during the conversion, be sure to re-read the document to ensure its relevance.

After this short process, you will have successfully converted your JPEG file into a word document.
