Facebook the social networking site is branching itself against the spreading of virus named Zika. Facebook itself has partnered with “Abrasco Divulga”- Brazil’s non-profit organization to spread the awareness among people and also to combat the disease.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in his post had announced that:-
- As a community, we can help fight the virus ZIKA by raising awareness.
- Zika virus is a disease caused by a virus transmitted by Aedes Mosquitoes. It is spread to people through mosquito bites.
- The common symptoms of this virus are mild fever, rashes, joint pains etc. At present, the Zika virus is the one of the biggest challenges that is faced by most of the people.
- Let’s consider if a pregnant woman who is attacked by this virus, it even links to the brain damage for the baby.
- There is no treatment and medicine for this type of virus. It should only be prevented. So what is the right way to avoid the disease?
- The most important thing is to avoid mosquito bites. This can be done by raising awareness among people and doing regular health checkup.
- This virus is widespread mostly in Brazil and also in many parts of the countries like United States, Australia etc.
- Since the past few months over 1.5 million Brazilians are estimated to have infected by this virus.
- Brazilians are more linked with this disease and therefore, creating a case of microcephaly that causes underdeveloped brain in babies.
- The mosquito-transmitted Zika virus infection relation between the pregnancy and microcephaly is strongly suspected.
- Facebook CEO also posted a video link from their awareness campaign hoping that people get the valuable information about the disease, especially the pregnant lady.
- This campaign can be helpful in an effort for public awareness because Facebook has been the top social network in Brazil.
