    Apple Rehires its Former Encryptor to Increase the Security of Devices

    Apple corp. has rehired its top encryption expert to strengthen the security of its consumer devices. This is being done at times when the technology giant is facing huge pressure from the US Law Enforcement Agencies to unlock its encrypted devices.

    Apple has hired the John Callas for this purpose. John Callas has previously worked with Apple in 1990s. He again worked with company between 2009 and 2011. The Apple’s encryptions system for the protection of data stored in Macintosh computer was actually designed by the Callas.

    Apart from working on this high post with Apple Mr. Callas is also a founder of Blackphone, PGP Corp, and Silent Circle. All these are the well reputed security communication companies of United States.

    Mr. Callas has not told about his new role and Apple too didn’t reveal about it.

    Background of the Apple’s Initiative

    Many objections on government are raised on its insistence to make Apple encrypt important data. For instance, California based company, Cupertino has clashed the US government, and The Company does not think that allowing Apple to encrypt the personal data of users stored on its devices is appropriate.

    Apple was forced by the Judges of United States Department of Justice and its Federal Judges to encrypt the locked data of its customers. These directions were specially made for the shooter of attacks in California, held last year.

    It is not mandatory that Apple’s help must be sought regarding encryption. The government authorities were able to encrypt the iPhone without the help from Apple. This led the drop f such cases. This does not mean that political debate on permitting authorities to unlock phone users’ data was also ended.

    Federal Board f Investigation Simply demands help from all the tech giants and Apple to help them encrypt the data of criminals. The tech companies are of opinion that doing so will simply undermine the security of their own products. As a result their tech product will easily become victim of hackers and consumers will lose interest.
