    Verification of Ad Intermediaries

Now, it is possible to reduce the risk of ad frauds. A process has been launched to verify the ad intermediaries through independent Verification. JICWEBS (Joint Industry Committee for Web Standards) of UK has published the Good Practice Principles. According to these principles it is possible to audit the companies on the basis of ads. This is done to reduce the risk of fraudulent ads.

The ads fraud is posing serious threat for many legitimate online businesses. Fake ads simply redirect users to false pages. In this way right websites can’t be able to attract legitimate customers. In the year 2015 estimated ad fraud mounted up to $6.3 bn. If measures are not taken then amount can rise further.

    JICWEB’s Taxonomy Report

The principles that are designed to overhaul companies on the basis of ads are designed in the light of JICWEBS. The report basically has two parts. In the first parts the type of online frauds is described and in the second part initial steps are defined that can be taken to reduce these ad frauds. Here, the righteous practices wouldn’t be judged only on the basis of ads. Verification will basically involve the audit of companies through a body. Only verified company who is making or publishing ads according the standards will be given certificates. The basic standards for giving certificates are yet to be set. It is said that these will be out in later half of 2016.

JICWEB’s Chairman Richard Foan told that Provision of guiding principles for certification and verification of companies is the right step to reduce the risk for fraudulent ads. The beneficiary of this initiative will include the e-commerce websites and online businesses who are actually suffering loss of revenue due to fraudulent ad activity. Ad Verification Suppliers will also be bound by certain principles to detect the ad frauds in very right way.
