Samsung phone recall portends Android turf war

The abandonment of Galaxy Note 7 by the Samsung Electronics Co Ltd after the high reports of the phones catching fire is expected arise a turf war among various Android Smartphone manufacturers. Consumers are now committing their choice between Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS operating system, leaving the fellow Android manufacturers of Android such as Alphabet Inc’s Google and LG Electronics in the prime position to strike as the both companies have the newly released phones. According to Jan Dawson, who is an analyst at Jackdaw Research, the hardware problem of the Smartphone will unlikely to change the preference of customers for the software systems. Samsung already has the premium end of the market of Smartphone that is pretty much sewn up on the Android side and thus this creates a bigger opening. In the prime Apple territory that is San Francisco, many consumers are switching to the home team and consequently the stocks of Apple have risen on the expectations of the border move.

This is the right chance for the people who were already thinking about making the switch. According to Bob O’Donnell of TECH Analysis Research, Apple will have the benefit but it is not going to get all of it as Apple has a single product. In the early September, after the numerous reports of the device catching fire, Samsung reportedly announced the recall of around 2.5 million Note 7s. The South Korean tech giant pulled the plug on the $882 device that could act as the costliest product safety failures in tech history. This news is a boon for Google as it recently announced its new line of Pixel Smartphones. Samsung is expected to remain competitive for the sales of premium Smartphones, despite its high reputational damage. The consumers who are seeking for the immediate replacements of the Galaxy Note 7, it might be easiest to go with another Samsung phone. It is reported that some of the customers were so much highly upset with the Samsung that they instantly switched to iPhone 7.
