Opera browser has just rolled out it’s the latest version that is expected to give faster start-up times. This faster start-up time is especially beneficial for those users who open multiple tabs at once. This newly updated opera 41 boosts battery life while watching videos in pop-up mode and while using video calling over WebRTC.
More Tabs, Efficient Tabs
The big change in Opera 41 is the new “smarter startup sequence”. On launching the browser on the system, it will automatically open the tab the user was previously using. In Opera 41, all the pinned tabs and the rest of the tabs load in decreasing priority. During the testing phase of Opera 41, the startup time for opera 41 gets improved by 86 percent for a browser with 42 open tabs. For the modest users who generally open 10 tabs at once, their boot time with Opera 41 can improve by about 50 percent. According to Opera, this faster start-up time reduces all possible numbers of pain points from the user experience. However, opera 41 is not the only browser to offer the smart tab-loading service at start up. Google has out rolled out Chrome 45 with this same feature in last September.
Better Battery Life, less CPU
Opera battery saving feature is already doing a good job in extending the life of the battery. Opera 41 offers the hardware-accelerated feature that can help the users to take their battery on a single charge. Opera will use its default video codec to offer hardware acceleration on initiation a web-based video chat via WebRTC, only if the battery-saving mode is on. All this will help to use the system resources more efficiently. To reduce the CPU usage in the battery saving mode, Opera will also try to limit the count of the pixel on the user screen. Hardware acceleration will also be used in the pop-up video on Opera 41. The pop-up video feature was introduced in May that let the user put content from websites like YouTube in a borderless window.
