Managing Director Relocating to U.S-
A day after her controversy ridden free basics programme Managing Director Kirthiga Reddy stepped down from her current role and will relocate to United States Headquarters.
As we know that Facebook the giant networking site is about to shut down Free Basics in India, after the Telecom Regulator TRAI operators who were charging discriminatory rates for the internet access based on the content.
Not only the Managing Director, along with her Dan Neary VP Asia Pacific and William Easton Managing Director of Emerging Markets (APAC) have started looking for her successor in India.
“Apart from that, it’s about our mission where in we give people the power to share and make the world more open and connected. We have only just begun,” she added.
When Reddy was the first employee for Facebook in India, she announced that she had the privilege to be a part of the growing journey, from a firm operation in Hyderabad to be a business partner for the clients.
In the next 6-12 months she will be working closely with Dan Neary and William Easton for the successor in India. She even started to explore new opportunities at Facebook.
Her move comes from the Telecom Regulator who rejected differential pricing as Facebook had promoted Free Basics as a programme which aims at providing basic access to the internet for users in partnership with telecom operators.
Critics slammed the service saying it violated the principle of net neutrality.
The Managing Director will be soon rebooting to the United States as she feels happy going back home to meet her parents.
