Google Trips App: Your new travel assistance

Google announced its latest Smartphone app that serves as the travel guide and trip planner for planning and organizing trips. Google Trips is a free app that is available on iOS and Android. The Google Trips app is designed to pull all the relevant details about the user’s trip from their Gmail account and recommends attractions, restaurants and “local gems” based on data gleaned from other travelers. Google probably know a lot about you and your travel plans if you are a frequent Google Map and Gmail user. The best thing about Google Trips app is that it works offline; you can download everything to your phone including maps and walking directions and thus can save a lot on your international data plan. Google Trips can act as the potential life saver for travelers who visit abroad without Wi-Fi or signal. Download button in Google Trips let you save each and every trip individually and let you add specific destinations manually that you want to visit. A magic wand fills in the gaps in your schedule with recommendations.

If the Google Trips app user visits any of the two hundred cities mentioned by the app, then his itinerary will auto-populate with tourist attractions, restaurants and landmarks to visit before the day is up. This feature can be accessed by tapping the Day Plan tile on the city page. With this new Google Trips app, Google hopes to take the experience to the next level. Tapping on a trip will show you a screen that lets you browse nearby attractions, your current reservations, food and drink suggestions and saved places. For example, a person book’s a hotel room for one night in the city to attend the wedding next month, then Google Trip will put together a package that will include restaurant suggestions, popular sight and a quick link to my hotel reservation. This feature will make finding things such as confirmation numbers and hotel addresses quicker than before.

Google Trips app is somehow similar to Concur’s TripIt, which houses hotel reservations, flight information and other travel related plans. The soul of the app is “Things to Do”, that build custom itineraries based on how long the user will be in town, popular destinations or anything that is previously starred or saved on a Google service. It can also make adjustments and recommend you various suggestions based on the time of the day and weather. For example, if it starts raining then the app will recommend you indoor activities. Google Trips app is not for the people who have more privacy concern as Google Trip can track your every step around the world.
