Apple is going from zero to sixty in its efforts and is going to build an electric car setting a target to ship in the year 2019, and designated it as a committed project internally. Leaders of the project code named “TITAN” have been given permission to triple its 600 percent team after the tech giants expect more than a year investigating the feasibility of an Apple branded car.
Although Apple doesn’t clearly plan to make its first electric vehicle fully autonomous. It has higher expects in driverless cars and now with the visuals from the Gomentum station. A secured testing facility for autonomous and connected vehicle.
Apple likely isn’t going to manufacture the whole vehicle. They are only focusing on the hardware part just like their own smartphones. They outsourced that to hardware makers. But yes, Apple knows its boundaries, sensors and how to tie hardware and software together.
So I think when Apple thought of making an electric car, they are talking about how to set a fully integrate a hardware with a software and to use some of the chip sensors expected. Many unanswered questions about Apple 4i inter cars still remain and cruising into the car industry that won’t be so easy.
However, the tech giants commitments is a sign that company sees an opportunity to become a player in the automobile industry. It isn’t clear whether Apple has manufacturing partner. Well, most of the auto manufacturers build and run their own factories that haven’t been Apple’s strategy with iPhones and iPads.
Contract manufacturing in the auto industry is usually limited to initial models. Once Apple completes its designs and prototypes the vehicle will still have to undergo plenty of testing before it can clear regular target. Apple has few things like name recognition, it has the intense interest of the media and of course lot of money.
