In recent news, AMD, the tech giant standing second in line in the field of CPU and GPU manufacturing after Intel and NVIDIA, has finally launched the brand new “Radeon Pro Duo” – a graphics card that contains powerful dual-GPU which is based on the Fiji architecture by AMD.
Unlike other launches, this launch is primarily focused on VR content developers instead of Gamers. The company claims in its belief of VR being an important part of the future of development in fields like medicine and journalism, besides entertainment.
Details of the card
The new Graphics card is a new and improved version of the Fiji architecture gaming cards, patented by AMD. This time, the single card contains two powerful Dual-GPU configurations. It just sits below the old FirePro Lineup by AMD. It will, however, receive special customized driver updates in short time for designing of professional software.
The card, with a price tag of $ 1,500 however, sits on the costly side of the scale.
Some specifications
The card is built around the famous Fiji architecture as it was seen on the Radeon R9 Fury edition series of graphics cards. It uses the latest 3D stacking technology for high concentrated memory for the GPU with a staggering 8 GB of High Bandwidth Memory. It can achieve a maximum throughput of 16.38 Teraflops. The GPU is however made on the 28 nm process which is comparatively older and each core is clocked at just 1 GHz.
It does produce a significant amount of heat so just as its younger sibling it has an external closed-loop liquid cooling system attached to it. It is, however, a low on the amount of power consumption, topping at just 350 Watts. It has 3 Display port outputs and 1 HDMI output with a compatibility for HTC Valve and Oculus Rift.
