    Toshiba’s New Android Receptionist

Japan is becoming the world’s epicenter for Robotics. Recently, in a hotel far away a robot receptionist welcomes as your driveway into the hotel.

Robots are making a new way of life for people to look beyond their imagination. They are becoming more and more specific same as humans.

Description About The New Android Robot –

A lifelike android robot called “AIKO CHIHIRA” marked her first day at work as a receptionist at Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi department store in Tokyo. Greeting customers as they walked in.

The robot will spark conversation between people and rather than using touch panel displays directions which make for a very cheerless way of communicating directions, this will make something new to the customers that would spark a giggle or two.

Toshiba is developing the technology behind the robots body movements as well as sinking the movements of Aiko’s mouth and voice.

The system also uses the technology developed by Android pioneer Hitoshi Tokuda  at Osaka university intelligent robotics laboratory.

If you look at Aiko at a first glance she looks like as if she is made with advanced technology but, she is made of things that are analogue in nature, an accumulation of the craftsmanship.

For now, Aiko can only read out program scripts but soon she will get an upgrade in the language she speaks.

This robot will serve as a receptionist at the store’s entrance for one or two days after which it will be available as a guide on the store seventh floor until the 5th of May.

Earlier receptionist Mio Sakai was concerned as her smile was a bit stiff. She is always facing the front and can’t really look at the customer’s eyes when she speaks.

Her traditional Japanese wear “Yukata” is very cute with Mitsukoshi patterns. I’m happy and feeling honoured that I could work beside her.
